More about this set

The aircraft exterior on the tarmac
A coach cabin
The cockpit, with its instruments and controls
An onboard restroom

The airplane set puts a commercial jet on our stage: the aircraft on the tarmac, a coach cabin, the cockpit and an onboard restroom. Real aircraft and airports are expensive and hard to permit or control, so the flight in a film or series usually shoots on a set, and this one keeps the lighting, sound and schedule in your hands.

Airplane film set: exterior, coach cabin, cockpit and restroom

Take a seat in the coach cabin for the mood of a commercial flight: the conversation between strangers, the turbulence, the scene in the aisle. The cabin also has a restroom. Step forward into the cockpit, where the instruments and controls hold up to a close shot. Real seats, props and furniture can dress the foreground, so actors interact with physical pieces while the virtual aircraft fills the frame behind them.

The photos on this page show the aircraft exterior. Ask for the cabin and cockpit views when you check availability, or see them live on a studio tour.

Airplane set with the airport terminal and a private jet

Pair the airplane with the airport terminal set for check-in, security and the gate, the airliner set for a polished airliner cabin and in-flight scenes, and the private jet set for a business jet with a wood-paneled cabin. Sets swap between setups the same day, so the terminal, the gate and the flight shoot without a company move. Browse every airplane and airport set, or see how film studio rental works for a thriller, a drama or a comedy.

Common questions

Can you rent an airplane set for filming?

Yes. The airplane virtual standing set at L.A. Castle Studios in Burbank and Albuquerque gives you a coach cabin, cockpit, and restroom for film and TV shoots. Real aircraft and airports are expensive and hard to permit or control; here the environment loads on stage in seconds, so you keep full control of lighting, sound, and schedule.

Is this a real airplane interior?

It's a photoreal virtual standing set. The cabin and cockpit are rendered in real time on stage and captured in camera. Real props, seats, and furniture can dress the foreground, so actors interact with physical pieces while the environment fills the frame behind them. There's no aircraft rental, no airport permitting, and no travel to a location.

Do you have a private jet set?

Yes. The Business Jet set is a private jet with a wood-paneled cabin, and the Airliner set is a polished airliner cabin for in-flight scenes. With the airplane set and the airport terminal set, the library covers the check-in, the gate, the flight and the arrival.

Can we shoot the airport and the flight on the same day?

Yes. Sets swap between setups the same day, so the airport terminal set and the airplane set can share a shoot day. The goodbye at the gate and the scene in the cabin shoot without a company move.
