Ancient Chinese Canal Town Set

Welcome to the Ancient Chinese Canal Town at L.A. Castle Studios. Weathered timber houses rise two and three stories on stone foundations, their curved tile roofs stacked one above the next along a narrow canal. Arched stone bridges cross the canal, paper lanterns glow in the doorways, and a pair of guardian lions stands watch at the temple gate. It is the kind of place your story would normally have to travel halfway around the world to find.

A period Chinese village, without the trip

The town gives you real depth in every direction: plank walkways along the stone canal walls, stairways climbing between houses, balconies hung with lanterns, a great stone bridge arching over the canal, and rooftops that reach back toward a temple on the rise. Shoot it wide from the bridge for the whole town, walk your actors along the canal, or come in close on a lantern-lit doorway. It plays at golden hour, under a heavy grey sky, and at night with every window glowing, so one set covers a whole day in the story.
