Old Brick House Set

Welcome to the Old Brick House Set at L.A. Castle Studios. Push open the front door and the hallway runs ahead of you, a carpeted staircase climbing behind a white banister, patterned paper on the walls, and afternoon light coming through net curtains in soft bars across the floor. It smells, you feel certain, of somebody’s grandmother’s house.

The rooms are furnished and lived in rather than styled. Deep buttoned sofas sit under bold red and yellow wallpaper. A boxy old television waits on its cabinet, a lamp beside it. There is an upright piano with a stool pushed under the keys, framed pictures hung slightly too high, dark wooden dressers, a wall of glazed cabinets holding china, and rugs laid over honey-coloured boards. Rooms open into one another through wide arches, so you can shoot right through the house and keep depth behind your actors.

This is the workhorse home for family drama and memory, flashbacks, coming-of-age stories, mid-century period pieces, nostalgia commercials, a music video that wants warmth and wallpaper. It is a real house to move through rather than a single dressed corner, and it needs no location scout, no homeowner to displace, no weekend of set dressing. It loads on the Burbank and Albuquerque stages in seconds, lit and ready.

Bring your crew, bring your story, and make yourself at home.
